We pride ourselves on developing relationships with our patients to deliver better, personalized care, so we want to give more insight into the lives of our staff behind the scenes. Susan has been an integral part of the UCA team for nearly 36 years, and she’s had the opportunity to really get to know many of our patients. So we want you to get to know Susan!

Q: Where are you from?

A: Tuscaloosa, Alabama ROLL TIDE!

Q: Where did you attend school, high school and beyond?

A: Tuscaloosa High School and Shelton State Jr College

Q: How long have you worked at Urology Centers of Alabama (UCA)?

A: 35 years (April 1st will be 36)

Q: What is your favorite thing about working at UCA?

A: Definitely the patients. I have known some of them for years.

Q: What advice might you give to a patient that’s nervous about his or her appointment?

A: You will get the best care from our doctors and nurses.

Q: Do you participate in any volunteer programs?

A: I help with the Crohn’s and Colitis Silent Auction every year. I have been to Haiti 3 times on medical mission trips and will be returning in May. I have until the last few months been teaching a 3 year old class at church.

Q: Tell us about your family, i.e. spouse, kids, grand kids, pets, etc?

A: I have been blessed with a wonderful husband for the past 21 years. He is an electrical engineer and one of the smartest people I know and I know a lot of smart people. We have one son who is studying Marketing at the University of Alabama. He is smart, funny, kind and he brings joy and laughter to our home. I am so thankful for both of them.

Q: How do you think your best friend would describe you as a person?

A: I think she would say that I am a good listener and a caring person.

Q: What is your favorite weekend activity?

A: Alabama Football

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the Birmingham area?

A: Superior Grill.

Q: If you could create your dream concert, what would the line up be?

A: Bruce Springsteen, Eagles, Journey and end with TSO!!!

Q: Pick a color that describes your personality, and tell us why.

A: Yellow…. It is a happy color.

Q: If a movie was being produced about your life, what famous actor or actress would play your character?

A: Barbara Streisand …. I have no idea why. It just seems right.

Q: What song do you karaoke to when you’re alone in your vehicle?

A: I Will Survive

Q: Who you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up and why?

A: Social Worker…. I thought I was going to be the person that made sure everyone was feed and had a roof over their head.

Q: If you were stranded on an island and you could only take one object, what would it be?

A: Toothbrush… I always have my toothbrush.

Q: If you could go back in time and meet one historical figure, who would it be and why?

A: John F. Kennedy… I have always been interested in the Kennedy family.

Q: If you had to pick a theme song that played every time you walked in a room, what would it be?

A: Walking on Sunshine

Q: If you had to be an animal, what would you choose?

A: Bird… I would love to be able to fly.

Q: If you could trade places with any person in the word for a day, who would it be?

A: Anyone that has anything to do with the daily operations at Disney World. From the CEO to the people that empty the trash. Disney World is amazing and I want to see how it’s done!
